Nestled in the countryside of Yilan, this building is more than just a bed and breakfast or a café. With its minimalist and elegant exterior, it is a thoughtfully designed space for relaxation and refinement. The host, Charlie, hailing from Korea, has created a unique environment at Barn Stay that transcends a mere place to stay; it's a hybrid venue showcasing taste and lifestyle.

The building spans three floors. The second and third floors serve as the guesthouse, featuring two different types of double rooms with open-plan layouts to welcome travelers. The first floor is a multifunctional café space that also sells curated home goods, photography books, literary works, and other selected items.

The design of Barn Stay is full of surprises. Guided by principles of minimalism and a reductionist approach, the host has incorporated elements of nature into the interior. Inspired by the teak left by the previous owner, Charlie chose to incorporate various natural materials such as stone and iron, minimizing the use of artificial materials to show a deep respect for nature. He believes that design is merely a tool to showcase purity and simplicity. Despite its minimalist approach, the space at Barn Stay is far from dull. The perfect blend of empty space and wood creates a sleek sense of layering.

All wooden furniture at Barn Stay is handcrafted, constructed without a single nail, opting instead for traditional joinery techniques to demonstrate a commitment to craftsmanship. Beyond the meticulously crafted furniture, the space also features the host's "Book of the Month" selection, which includes not only Chinese books but also carefully chosen photography collections and magazines, reflecting the unique taste of Barn Stay.

At Barn Stay, you will not only experience the perfect pairing of minimalism and wood but also the tranquility of nature and the host's pursuit of a refined lifestyle. This is not just a place to stay but a design space rich with stories, blending elements from both Eastern and Western cultures.
