Have you ever dreamed of escaping into a forest, surrounded by towering trees and the melodic calls of birds?

Nestled in the serene wilderness of northern Sweden, Treehotel offers a unique retreat where modern design seamlessly merges with nature.

This Nordic haven is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, vast forests, and rich ecosystems. The distinct seasonal shifts demand flexible architecture, utilizing locally sourced wood and stone to create structures that harmonize with the environment. Situated in Lapland, Sweden, Treehotel is celebrated for its extraordinary treehouse cabins, each crafted with a unique concept—some even mimicking floating bird nests, fostering an unparalleled connection with the surrounding forest.

One of its latest additions, Biosphere, is a groundbreaking design by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), developed in collaboration with Swedish ornithologist Ulf Öhman. This innovative treehouse, suspended within the tall pine trees of Harads, features 350 birdhouses, creating an architectural "city in the sky" that beautifully blends modern design with ecological conservation.

According to studies by Ulf Öhman and the Norrbotten Ornithological Association, bird populations in Norrbotten County are declining due to deforestation and the loss of natural tree hollows, which are essential nesting sites. By integrating 350 birdhouses into the design, Biosphere actively addresses this ecological challenge. Additionally, climate change has led to imbalances in insect populations, impacting food availability for birds. The harsh Nordic winters further strain avian survival, making feeding programs a crucial intervention to sustain biodiversity.

Treehotel is more than just a destination — it is an homage to nature, offering guests an immersive coexistence with the wild. In this enchanting forest, you can experience the whispers of the trees, the embrace of the wilderness, and the symphony of birdsong. Each cabin embodies a sustainable design philosophy, seamlessly integrated into the natural world, strengthening the bond between humans and the environment.
