Film-Faced Plywood is commonly used at construction sites as formwork for shaping concrete pours or as scaffolding boards for building exteriors during construction. Film-Faced Plywood, a premium construction-grade plywood, is made from birch plywood with a specialized surface film coating. The top and bottom layers are hot-pressed with phenolic resin film, providing enhanced resistance to repeated concrete pouring and exposure to outdoor conditions like sunlight and rain. This plywood offers excellent flatness, high reusability, and easy cleaning after demolding, reducing the time and costs associated with preparing formwork for reuse.
The core of Finnish plywood is made from birch wood grown in high-latitude regions of Europe, bonded with weather-resistant, boil-proof (WBP) glue. This results in high load-bearing capacity and stability.
Film Coating
The surface of the Film-Faced Plywood is coated with a phenolic resin film on both sides through a hot-pressing process, creating a protective layer. Phenolic resin is known for its excellent heat resistance, water resistance, and insulation properties. Plywood coated with phenolic film has a high wear resistance, is moisture-resistant, and is highly durable, making it ideal for use as concrete formwork.
Moisture and Weather Resistance
The phenolic resin film coating on the surface and edges of the Film-Faced Plywood provides excellent moisture and weather resistance. This reduces wear and tear when used as concrete formwork and enhances durability against outdoor elements such as sun and rain.
High Reusability
When used as concrete formwork, the phenolic resin film coating on both sides makes the plywood surface easy to clean and prevents sticking after demolding. This significantly reduces the time and costs associated with preparing formwork for reuse. European-made film-faced plywood, manufactured according to technical specifications, can be reused over 50 times for concrete pouring applications.
Film-Faced Plywood is widely used in both the construction and transportation industries. In construction, it is commonly used as formwork for shaping concrete in high-rise buildings, shear walls, vertical formwork, and for civil engineering projects such as highways, overpasses, exposed concrete (fair-faced concrete), tunnels, bridges, and retaining walls. In the transportation industry, it is used as flooring material for trailers, trucks, and containers, and in shipbuilding, vehicle manufacturing, military applications, light industrial products, and various types of packaging.
