Species Introduction
Kapur wood is known for its well-formed structure, often featuring buttresses supporting straight cylindrical trunks. Its excellent durability makes it highly suitable for general construction purposes.
Production Areas and Distribution
Kapur is an imported hardwood renowned for its durability, originating from Malaysia and Indonesia. It is commonly used in general construction as well as for interior and exterior decorative materials.
Applications
Kapur is suitable for general construction such as columns, beams, support beams, rafters, guardrail supports, telegraph and power transmission poles and crossarms. It is used in door and window frames, sills, flooring, stairs, and interior fine woodworking. It can be used for manufacturing pallets (heavy-duty and permanent types), tool handles (impact), interior plywood, laboratory workbenches, and columns (lightweight). In residential flooring and interior fittings where the finished appearance is important, care should be taken during installation as it can develop unsightly black stains when in contact with iron nails, screws, or other fittings.
